Zendaya, the remarkable transition from Disney to Hollywood

The actress that we have come to know as Zendaya was given the birth name Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman. She later decided to use her first name as her professional screen name. Zendaya chose to use this name because of its meaningful definition,“to give thanks”, in the tongue of Zimbabwe’s Shona people.... Initially, Zendaya started her career as a backup dancer and model. She showcased her innate skills and talents in various gigs as she grew up over the years. Eventually, her first career breakthrough came through the Disney hit show "Shake It Up". From there, the artist transitioned to other fields and ventures that later came her way. From her childhood, Zendaya had a passion for theater and dance, a passion that would eventually pay off as she obtained her first major role at the age of 16, and became not only an actress but also a producer of the Agent KC series on Disney. She seized her chance in 2010, during an audition for Disney Channel. Five years later, she would demand and gain more artistic control over the production of the Agent K.C. series, making the aspiring spy she played a math genius and a black belt in karate.

Then she will also become the youngest participant in ABC's flagship show "Dancing with the Stars". In 2017, she joined the Marvel universe with the successful film Spider-Man: Homecoming which marks her sensational entry into the world of cinema, followed by the musical film "The Greatest Showman".

In 2019, she was the youngest woman to win the Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series, for her performance as a high school addict in "Euphoria". From Disney to HBO, Zendaya made a successful landing.

On the poster for the sentimental Malcolm & Marie camera (filmed in full covid and available on Netflix), nothing seems to be able to stop its dizzying ascent. Over time, Zendaya has learned one of the most important lessons in show business: the art of reinvention. Her projects are a whirlwind of eclecticism: model, singer (an electro-R&B album that bears her mononym), author, designer (with Tommy Hilfiger), Lancôme's youngest muse, influencer and activist. Everything seems to be working for her.
